ECOVACS Improves Window Cleaning Robot

Published

on

The ECOVACS WINBOT W1 PRO was a smash hit last year with home owners. Clearly, there’s a large amount of big windows in Australia because W1 glass cleaning robot sold in big numbers.

The W1 was a big step in the right direction because it actually worked. Previous models didn’t impress but the 2023 version made a big impression. However, there was one big issue.. the power cable. Many people had to go to great lengths to run extension leads through bushes and past swimming pools to get the W1 powered. It was separate to the safety tether but added complexity to the job.

Now, the ECOVACS WINBOT W2 OMNI comes with its own portable suitcase-style multi-functional station and ONE cord that performs the double task of power and safety line. It is equipped with drop protection mechanisms, a built-in battery for unplugged indoor or outdoor use and automatic wire winding. These are all big time savers.

Reduced airflow speed makes for a quieter performance, enhanced by sound-absorbing cotton. The W2 adapts to variety of window designs including floor-to-ceiling windows, small windows, frameless windows or mirrors, tilted windows and more. W2 OMNI can also adapt to various cleaning situations through four new cleaning modes: Fast, Deep, Spot, and Custom. While Fast mode is perfect for everyday cleaning, performing with high efficiency in a single wipe, the Deep Mode incorporates edge-cleaning which ensures no spot is left unwiped. Spot Mode tackles stubborn areas, and Custom Mode lets the user dictate where WINBOT should clean.

W2 OMNI Intelligent Steady Climbing System

Instead of randomly wiping both sides of the window, leaving streaks and residue behind, W2 OMNI utilises an intelligent navigation system, WIN-SLAM 3.0, to ensure consistent edge-to-edge cleaning. Plus, seamless movement around obstacles. It uses a three-nozzle wide-angle spray technology that dissolves dirt and evenly covers windows without drippage. W2 OMNI’s steady climbing system features 3-point anti-slip, anti-dust driving treads and intelligent gravity compensation which allows the robot to maintain steady rolling across windows.

THIS WINBOT WORKS ON All Windows

It has a number of safety system built in to give peace of mind while the device is cleaning at a significant height.

The ECOVACS WINBOT W2 OMNI for launch in the US first, there’s no word yet on Australia/NZ availability or price.

But we’ll keep you posted.

We’ll also cover the other ECOVACS products announced at CES 2024.

Image Matrix Tech on Sky News: SAT ONE Signs LEO Deal with ONEWEB

Published

on

In Sunday’s segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we talked about Perth-based SAT ONE satellite Internet company signing a deal with ONEWEB. SAT ONE is offering satellite broadband services to businesses and government agencies in rural and remote locations across Australia and New Zealand.

In simple terms, ONEWEB’s LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite constellation is similar to Starlink’s but through SAT ONE customers are guaranteed speeds of 200 Mbps down – 40 Mbps up .. that’s brilliant.

So while servicing business and government for now, there’s a possibility future plans will include consumers.

ONEWEB has a LEO (Low Earth Orbit) system of satellites

FAST FACTS ABOUT SAT ONE AND ONEWEB DEAL

  • Perth founded technology company Sat One is Australia’s newest Satellite internet company, who are launching revolutionary super fast internet services.
  • Sat One is offering satellite broadband services to businesses and government agencies no matter how remote their location within an allocated area at time of launch, with plans to service all of Australia in 2024.
  • Sat One, who are part of OneWeb’s global network with more than 640 satellites located across the world, will do this through their low earth orbit satellite (LEO) network that provides fibre-like speeds and capabilities, without the expensive construction costs.
  • Sat One are guaranteeing download speeds of 200Mbbs and upload speeds of 40Mbbs depending on a chosen plan and they give their clients the choice of unlimited or data capped plans at the committed and guaranteed speed.
  • Their pricing is competitive, and they offer 24/7 customer support through locally based call centres.
  • Sat One is also guaranteeing data that is transmitted in Australia always lands back in Australia. This is because “Landing Rights for Space” has been secured by OneWeb.
  • The launch of Sat One will help industries including emergency services, agriculture, mining and resources to ensure they can continue to operate and maintain safety standards, especially during extreme weather events, and will also help to bridge the digital divide.
  • While location availability at launch is south of the Tropic of Capricorn, from Carnarvon to Bundaberg to be more precise, services will grow to reach Australia-wide by Q1 of 2024
  • Businesses can purchase Sat One services directly through Sat One or through one of their channel partners.

TECH SHOW IFA BERLIN IS UNDERWAY

IFA 2023 is underway in Berlin

All the big companies like, Samsung, LG and Hisense are in Germany this weekend for IFA. It’s smaller than CES but in many ways, more enjoyable to attend.

Robots are out in force at IFA 2023, large and small. But the big reveal came from ECOVACS. The company showed publicly what could be called the most advanced robot vacuum cleaner ever. The DEEBOT X2 OMNI.

The ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI was unveiled at IFA

It has a new square-shape (yes!) and increased suction (8,000 pa). The intelligent Auto-lift Mopping System lifts the plates by 15mm when carpet is detected. The all-in-one OMNI station offers a fully automated cleaning solution including Auto-Clean with 55°C Hot Water Mop Washing, Auto-Empty Dust Bin, Auto Hot Air Drying, Auto Water Refilling and self-maintenance. It will be coming to Australia and I’ll have more on that soon.

There were other robots on show – including Willow. This has been a huge hit at IFA , mostly because it’s so damn cute. It will mow your lawn, kill weeds and guard your home.

The protoype Willow X has arms that can carry tools, throw out the rubbish, even pour a beer.

IS THERE ANY POINT USING A PHONE FOR MOON SHOTS?

Yes there is .. but not to take the photo. Having said that, the Samsung S23 Ultra it does a pretty good job.

The problem is; the moon is very bright and distant so smartphone’s don’t have the reach or dynamic range to pull off some of the images or video you’ll see in this segment.

For the most part, people end up with a white circle. Not a good memory.

But .. a smartphone is still important because of moon tracking apps. I used MOON TRACKER and the AR feature to help plan the shot. You can see where and when moonrise will occur.

Moon Tracker app makes planning moon shots easier

Then it’s about a real camera and a long lens – very long. I used the Canon R6 II and 800mm f/11 RF lens plus an extender to double the reach. You can buy this lens for around $1500 so getting set up doesn’t have to break the bank.

What is clear though .. real cameras rule!

on

ECOVACS has pulled off a compelling price point for the Australian launch of the DEEBOT N10 PLUS. For $999 AUD consumers can buy a robot vacuum cleaner that rivals some of the top models, not just from ECOVACS but other manufacturers too. So for less than a thousand dollars, what do you get?

Well, you get strong suction – 4300Pa – advanced TrueMapping navigation technology, up to five hours of run time and an auto-empty station that holds up to 60 days of dust and a new antibacterial filter, all controlled through the ECOVACS Home App.

ECOVACS DEEBOT N10 PLUS Smashes $1000 Barrier with top end features as ECOVACS ROBOTICS celebrates 25 years of global leadership in robotic vacuum cleaners

“With Australians eager to embrace home robotics that deliver both convenience and time-saving, it was important that ECOVACS continued to step up and deliver a new, compelling option for them to consider, and we are delighted to be adding the DEEBOT N10 PLUS into our range,” said Karen Powell, Regional Director of Australia and New Zealand for ECOVACS ROBOTICS.

“We are constantly challenging ourselves, be it through innovation or value, and the DEEBOT N10 PLUS combines both by delivering an uncompromising clean with these carefully curated features never seen before for this price.”

DEEBOT N10 PLUS can vacuum and mop in-one-go, but also knows where not to clean when mopping is enabled.

It’s surprising to think that ECOVACS ROBOTICS is celebrating 25 years leading the way in robotic vacuum cleaners. It really doesn’t feel like that long. ECOVACS estimates that existing products already in Australian homes are already saving more than three million hours a year in cleaning time, with DEEBOTS covering enough ground annually to clean the playing surface of the Melbourne Cricket Ground more than 2,300 times.

The DEEBOT N10 PLUS can find the most optimal cleaning path thanks to its dToF (Direct Time Of Flight) sensors.

KEY FEATURES
